Are you trying to come up with something a little different but very special for your wedding reception? You know, a wedding favor that you know without a doubt your guests will enjoy. Today, the options for wedding favors are truly amazing. What you cannot find at your local bridal shop, you can always be creative and make your own.
In fact, some brides will set a day aside with close family, friends, and the bridal party to create favors. In addition to coming up with some wonderful gifts for the guests, each person has a great time together while making the favors. Regardless if you buy or make favors, the key is choosing something unique, personal, and creative. The following are a few recommendations that would make excellent wedding favors:
- Terra Cotta Pots You can purchase miniature pots that decorate them using any type of embellishment such as glitter, gems, twigs, lace, paint, and so on. On the bottom, using a gold or silver-inked pen, write the name of the bride and groom and the wedding date. Then, place a store bought or homemade votive candle down inside the pot and around the rim tie a ribbon that matches the color scheme of the wedding. Another option is to fill the pot with candy or potpourri in place of the candle.
- Miniature Watering Cans These can be purchased at most hobby stores, costing around $1.00 each. The size is perfect for filling with packaged seeds or a bag of seeds down inside. Tie a note on each thanking the guests for attending the wedding and asking them to think of you each time they see the flowers grown from the seeds. A simple piece of lace or ribbon will complete the look.
- Miniature Taper Candles These candles are beautiful and can be purchased or made. Most are around six inches long and beautiful to hang anywhere in the home. Choose about four candles with colors that match your wedding colors and that have a wonderful fragrance. Tie the wick of all the candles with a ribbon and place at each table etting.
- Brandy Glasses You can find small and inexpensive brandy glasses at department stores, hobby stores, or on the Internet. Fill a piece of colored cellophane paper that matches your wedding with chocolate covered nuts such as almonds, cashews, or pecans. Set the candy down inside the glass and on the stem, you can use craft paint to write in the date.
- Beeswax Candles This type of candle was very popular at one time but then seemed to fade out. However, in the past few years, bride and grooms have rediscovered this unique and classy-looking candle. By tying two coordinating colored beeswax candles together with lace or ribbon, you can set them at each place setting for the guests to take home and enjoy.
