Choosing the wedding favors for your guests is actually kind of fun. Today, there are so many options that this part of planning a wedding and reception is exciting and allows you to give something back to the people celebrating in your special day.
Once you know the number of guests expected, you can determine how much you have to spend on the favors and how many you need. Some couples give favors to the guests upon arrival at the church, some have them sitting at each individual plate at the reception, some give them away at the end of the reception, and some couples leave the favors in the rooms of guests coming from out of town. Most favors are reasonably priced and sold in bundles to help keep the cost down.
When it comes to a right or wrong price to spend on favors, there really is not one since this is a personal gesture of the bride and groom. You might be able to purchase some of the generalized favors for less than $100 and then choose some more elaborate favors for special out of town guests. Additionally, some brides choose to make their own favors, which can be a fun project for the bridal party.
Favors literally run the gamut. You can choose from something simple like bubbles to be blown as you and your new spouse leave the church for the reception and reception for the honeymoon, to colorful and creative miniature baskets filled with candles, to a box of candy hearts. The key is trying to choose favors that coordinate with your wedding, personal preference, and personality.
Although you can visit any bridal shop or visit online businesses to buy favors, if you have a family member or friend that makes candy, candles, soaps, or some other wonderful homemade item, you might hire that person to come up with something unique. Even if you have 150 people RSVP your wedding, you should keep several extra on hand for unexpected guests or for those who forgot to send in their RSVP. Keep in mind that your favors do not have to be expensive or fancy, although they can b. Just be sure whether ordering or making your own, that enough time is allowed.
Choose one of your Brides Maids to be in charge of the favors. For example, if the favors will be handed out after the wedding ceremony, she would ensure the favors made it to the church and that any leftovers would make it to the reception. You also want to keep a few favors aside for yourself as a memory of this special day.
If you do have someone helping to make the favors or a Brides Maid to take care of them and get them to their proper location, you should have an extra nice favor as a way of saying, Thank you! The old, boring favors of yesterday are long gone and in their place are some truly amazing ideas that you can have real fun with and the guests will love.
