Choosing wedding favors is an important part of your wedding in that you want to provide your guests something special to show your appreciation for them attending your wedding ceremony and reception. Although favors are not required, they do add a nice personal touch and show your guests that you really feel honored they are present. One type of favor that you can never go wrong with is the scented favor.

SCENT-SATIONAL

Check out these great-smelling ways to treat your guests.

Potpourri: Fill patterned cloth bags with sweet-smelling potpourri. Tie the bags with colored ribbon or a length of raffia. Attach your favorite poem or quote to the sachet.

Pomander: Okay, this is a tricky one, but we just had to pass it along. This unusual favor must be made early. Wrap a piece of tape around an orange, dividing it into halves. Using a nail, poke holes in the skin of the orange (avoiding the tape) about half an inch apart. Insert a whole clove into each hole. Roll the orange in a mixture of cinnamon and orrisroot powder and shake off the excess powder. Wrap the oranges in tissue paper and allow the fruit to dry for four weeks in a warm, dry place. Remove the tape and replace it with a picot edged ribbon in your wedding colors, tied in a bow. Secure the ribbon at the top and bottom with pins. Wrap your pomander in a swatch of tulle, tied with another length of ribbon. Phew! This favor's a little expensive and labor intensive, but it's perfect for a smaller wedding.

Soap: Wrap fragrant miniature bars of soap in swatches of fabric in your wedding colors. Tie the bundles together with raffia or colored ribbons. Handmade soap makes this favor just a little more special.

Votive Candles: Present each guest with a scented votive candle in your wedding colors. Circle each candle with a wide satin ribbon. Secure each ribbon end with double-sided tape or a glue gun. Or, for a really simple favor, try our pre-made silver candle favors. Pillar candles with special charms inside also make a lovely gift. We suggest having each guest light their candle as they are seated for dinner. What a beautiful way to start your reception.
