Wedding anniversaries can be a great time to celebrate a couple's love and
relationship. There are many anniversary milestones that could be celebrated
with a party or large gathering to commemorate the occasion. This article is
designed to provide a brief overview of what to do for people who are planning
to celebrate an anniversary with a party. This guide is written for the
perspective of the people planning the party and is an attempt to give them
some assistance in this task.
Anniversary parties are usually planned for couples that have been together
in excess of 5 years. The most typical milestones that are accompanied with
a party are 20th, 25th, 30th, 40th and 50th wedding anniversaries. However,
anniversary parties do not have to be at a specific milestone, they could be
any year. Anniversary parties usually include immediate family members and
often include extended family members. These can be guests from out of town.
Also, the guest list should include a couple's close friends and neighbors.
The party can include people from work, but definately be very careful if you
are choosing to invite coworkers so that no one will feel slighted.
Typically, one activity that usually occurrs at anniverary parties is that the
immediate family of the couple wish them well with a few words. These words
should be words of encouragement and thanksgiving for the couple';s relationship
and should wish them many more happy returns. Moreover, some people can even
share stories about the couple that will be either funny, uplifting, or both.
In addition, there is usually a very festive atmosphere. Dancing is optional
but can be nice. The format of the party can range. It can be anywhere from
a formal party to a backyard barbecque in the afternoon. Generally, there is
often food and drinks for the guests. The couple also usually gets gifts from
guests, usually a token of their appreciation. It could be a plaque or a very
nice gift that will last a long time.
Clearly the intent of any anniversary party is to honor the couple who is
celebrating. The other thing is to make sure that the couple has a good
time and that the activities that are planned for the party are activities
that the couple will enjoy or appreciate.
