In today's society, it is common for people to have a second marriage but
with this often comes the question of appropriate wedding gown colors. The
truth is, any color is appropriate, even white although this is a debated
issue. Since weddings are a celebration of two people that have fallen in
love, you should wear the style and wedding gown that makes you feel like a
fairy princess while not feeling uncomfortable. This is not the day for you
to worry about what other people think since it is your opinion that matters.
Choose a wedding gown that provides a nice touch of color, coordinating with
your wedding colors. For example, if your wedding were navy and white, a soft
blue would be perfect or if you chose burgundy, a nice champagne color would be
perfect.
Another concern that some brides have relates to wedding gowns for larger women.
Unfortunately, larger women often run into a problem where the wedding gowns
they fall in love with only go up to a certain size. This is a frustrating
situation but do not be discouraged. First, you can look stunning on their
wedding day by choosing a wedding gown purchased at a specialty shop that
focuses on big women. Do not think for a minute that you have to sacrifice
beauty. There are many gorgeous gowns that will be very flattering to your
size and make your day a complete success. Another great option is to look at
wedding gowns sold at warehouse-style bridal shops. Here, you will find
abundance of options, and often for a terrific price.
The opposite is true for thin women. Many people think if you are thin that it
is easy to find clothing right off the rack. Just as with the large sizes,
smaller sizes are also often a special order item. Try the warehouse-style
bridal shop as well and keep in mind that if you find a wedding gown that you
like but it is one or two sizes too big, you can always have it altered by a
professional seamstress.
Petite brides used to be almost completely left out. They would choose a
regular gown and then have it altered. However, in the past 10 years, more
wedding gowns for petite women have been designed. If you want a wedding gown
that makes you appear taller, A-line gowns or a princess-seamed wedding gown
will offer the long lines needed. Keep in mind that sheath-style-wedding gowns
are often designed for the proportions of a tall woman and therefore not
necessarily a good choice if you are petite. Additionally, if the wedding gown
has a low-waist design, you will look as though you have been cut in half.
Empire or natural waistlines are a better option for your short statute. In
addition to the A-line or princess seam, stick with styles that offer more
detailing on the top portion of the wedding gown, drawing the eyes upward.
