One of the things that every bride wants is perfect makeup for her wedding day. This is the time to look your best and wear just the right amount and the right style of makeup. Typically, you want your makeup to look natural with just a touch of color. Even the most glamorous bride does not want to go overboard on the makeup. Check out some bridal magazines to get an idea of ways in which makeup looks and you would do best to stay with traditional looks rather than trends. You also need to remember that the shape of your face, eyes, and lips will also help determine how to wear your makeup.
Following are some tips by famous makeup artists to help you look radiant on your wedding day:
If you have skin that tends to be oily, do not use any type of moisturizer before applying your makeup, as this will only make the problem worse.
Use an oil-based foundation that matches your natural skin tone. Using a sponge, blend the foundation on your face evenly, ensuring no lines are left on the side of the face, especially if you will be wearing your hair up. The oil-base is important since most brides cry and with oil-based over water-based, the tears will simply roll down the makeup, not smear it.
Next, use a cream-style blush after you have applied your foundation but before you add powder. This technique serves two purposes. First, it helps the blush last, longer and second it provides you with a more natural glow.
You can find shimmer products in most retail or beauty supply stores. Apply a small amount on the top of your cheekbones. This will help give your face a nice, fresh highlight.
You want to use eye shadow that shimmers. If you do use color, choose a blend of taupe and blue or green, gently applied to the crease of the eyelid only. This trick will help your eyes stand out in pictures.
Never use dark or black eyeliner, as it will make your eyes appear small and heavy. Instead, choose colors that are a plum, teal, or soft gray.
Make sure you wear only waterproof mascara. Again, this will help during the times that you cry so you do not have black lines streaking down your face. For the bottom lashes, use just a small amount of mascara.
For your lips, start by applying thin lip liner on both your top and bottom lip, which helps lipstick hold up longer and gives your lips a fuller, more defined look. Then use a soft plum or mauve as your main color and avoid bright pinks and reds.
Once all of your makeup has been applied, use a loose powder for finishing. This will help set your makeup and give you that beautiful appearance so you will look gorgeous on your wedding day.
As the final touch, especially if you are wearing an off-the-shoulder gown, use a small amount of shimmer powder. Remember to put this on after your dress and carefully so you do not cause any stains and use only in moderation.
