Although the bride is in the spotlight of a wedding, the bridal party plays a significant role. You want each woman to feel and look like a Princess on your special day. Since you will work with your Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids in choosing the gowns they will wear, you will already know the color, fabric, and style. Considering the style gown and your Maid of Honor and Brides Maids personality, you want to create a consistent look while allowing some of their personality to shine through.

The way to accomplish this is by accessorizing. After all, while the cookie cutter look may be fine for a Royal wedding with thousands of people in attendance, for most weddings, you want some individuality. You will discover some excellent ways to do just this without creating such a difference that it distracts from the beauty of your wedding.

For instance, hair and body jewelry is always a great way to create individuality. If everyone in the bridal party will be wearing a dazzling hair adornment, you might make them all different. Allow each of the women to choose something that reflects their personal style as long as it is the same size and meets a set criterion. You might have your Maid of Honor wear a butterfly in her hair, and then the Brides Maids wear a dragonfly, flower, or antique-look piece of hair jewelry.

Another great way to personalize is with different earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. Keep each within the same design, but not identical in style. As an example, if your wedding incorporates a romantic, Victorian style, then all of the jewelry worn should be Victorian but individualized. Just be sure you provide each of the women a set parameter of what is and is not acceptable or if you like, go out shopping with them one afternoon and make it an adventure. Stop by antique stores, jewelry stores, second-hand stores, and then enjoy a great lunch and special time together.

Another excellent idea is to have the Maid of Honor and Brides Maids wear something that resembles a piece of jewelry that you as the bride will wear. If you will be wearing a larger, double-stranded pearl choker, then you could have your Maid of Honor wear one similar but not quite so elaborate and then have each of the Brides Maids wear a short, single-stranded pearl necklace.

You should request that your Maid of Honor and Brides Maids not wear watches, as they are not meant for formal wear. In place of a watch, and even as a lovely gift to your bridal party, choose a bracelet that fits each ones personality. This way, they will all be wearing sparkling jewelry o their wrists but be wearing something unique to them.

Finally, shoes are often a debate should everyone in the bridal party wear the same style or can different styles be worn as long as they are the same color? If your Maid of Honor and Brides Maids will wear the same formal gown, having all of the women wear the same shoes creates a nice polished appearance. However, it is certainly not wrong for them to wear different styles as long as the shoes are the same color and have a similar style. If your wedding is a bit more informal, you could even choose the same shoe but in colors that match the gown. For instance, if you have your wedding in the spring and each of the women in the bridal party is wearing the exact gown but in a different pastel color, choose strappy sandals that match each dress in color.

With a little creativity and flexibility, you can take a formal or informal wedding and keep it beautiful while still accessorizing on a minor scale to allow a little of the bridal partys personality to show.
