Your Brides Maids are important individuals in your wedding and usually close friends or family members that mean something very special to you. With all the planning that a wedding requires, more than likely you have all been running errands trying to get last minute things done. Before the actual wedding day, do something extra nice for your Brides Maid by taking them to a special lunch.

Although this is not something mandatory, it is certainly a nice gesture, a way of showing your appreciation for their assistance in planning your wedding and participating in it. Just remember that this is a girls outing so no husbands, boyfriends, or fiancÚs allowed! This event is one that you as the bride would host and while you want it to be nice, that does not mean you have to choose the most expensive restaurant in town. However, you can choose any number of options that would give you and the Brides Maid a special time together just laughing, reminiscing, and enjoying time together.

Typically, you want this to be actually at lunchtime although an early afternoon or evening is fine. Try to find a place that serves salad, fresh fruit, finger sandwiches, petit fours, and cakes, or in other words, lighter type foods that will allow everyone to enjoy the lunch without feeling full and bogged down. The event can be casual yet elegant regardless if you choose to have something outdoors in a garden like setting or at your local pizzeria.

This lunch is the perfect time for you to present each of your bridal party with a specially chosen gift. Considering all the time and effort they put into your wedding, this tradition is one highly respected and appreciated. You should also invite both your mother and future mother-in-law and provide them each with a special gift as well. This might include a beautiful inscribed locket, bracelet, or silver picture frame of you and the groom.

You should also have a special cake made, which is traditionally called a Brides Maid Cake. Most restaurants will allow you to bring your own cake in if they are aware of the special occasion. There are two traditions with this cake, one of which includes some type of trinket being baked into it. It might be a thimble, a silver charm, or even a coin. Since the cake should be pink, choose form strawberry, raspberry, or cherry, and have it frosted pink as well. Once the cake is sliced and passed out, the person that finds the surprise is the next one to be married. The tradition dates back to the Victoria era and has a certain romance attached.

The second tradition with the Brides Maid ake involves six trinkets, each different and with a special meaning of luck. On each of th trinkets or charms is a ribbon attached. These too are baked into the cake and when the cake is cut, each member of the bridal party pulls out a charm, which then tells them what their future will hold.

In addition to a restaurant luncheon, other ideas you may consider include:
  • A day at a full-treatment spa
  • Picnic in the park
  • Wine tasting afternoon
  • Movie marathon with tons of popcorn
  • Art museum
