If you are getting ready for your wedding, then you know all the things to do. In addition to the church, photographer, wedding gown and tuxedos, choosing of the wedding party, music, and so on, there is the very important decision regarding the flowers. Most weddings have several different types of flowers so choosing the right type and color is an important decision.
You will find bridal flowers in every size, color and style imaginable. For traditional weddings, the bridal party will carry smaller bouquets while the bride carries a larger, heavier bouquet. For the bridal bouquet, choose flowers that complement the wedding color, theme, and the bride. For instance, if the bride were petite or if she is wearing an elaborately ornate gown, then you would choose smaller flowers. However, if the bride were tall or wearing a simple gown then the bouquet could be much more dramatic. The key is to keep things balanced. If you choose to have an old-fashioned or Victorian wedding then in place of the handheld bouquets, you could choose to have a basket filled with long stemmed flowers.
You also need to think about the flowers for the Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids. Again, these bouquets are smaller than what the bride carries and are designed to enhance the style and color of gown. Although the color scheme is generally the same, for the Maid of Honor you can use elaborate flowers with more color.
If you plant to have a Flower Girl at your wedding, you have several great choices. First, as a headpiece, you can have a beautiful wreath made of daisies or some other dainty type flower accented with ribbon. In addition to the headpiece, a lightweight basket filled with rose petals to scatter down the aisle is the traditional choice.
Another great option for the bridal party is to have simple, yet beautiful hairpieces designed. This could include a wreath of flowers or barrettes embellished with fresh flowers and ribbon. The mothers and grandmothers should also receive flowers. In this case, the bride and groom should present them with a corsage that can be pinned onto their garment. However, you should give them the option of choosing a write corsage if they like. Regardless, choose something special and beautiful to match their dresses.
The Groom, father of the bride and groom, and users should also receive flowers in the form of a boutonniere. Typically, this would be a Lily of the Valley shaft, rosebud, or carnation but today, being more creative with flower types and color is perfectly accepted.
Finally, do not forget the little Ringbearer. However, this is a little bit different. Most often, he will wear a boutonniere just like the groomsmen but sometimes, little boys are not too fond of wearing flowers or it simply may not go with the outfit. Therefore, if you can get him to wear a boutonniere, that would be great but if not, do not stress over it.
