Every bride and groom wants to create the most memorable wedding reception, which includes serving the finest wine and most delicious food. Planning a reception with food is not small task. It requires adequate time and the services of a professional. You want the menu to please, as many peoples tastes as possible without going over your budget. This is a wonderful time to blend a little of the expected with the unexpected and be creative with your choices while still keeping your family and friends taste in mind.

First, you should plan serving appetizers, a main course, which usually consists of a bread, potato, and vegetable, and the wedding cake with beverages. If you plan to serve food that is ethnic or unusual, you should be sure to indicate that on the wedding invitation so people who are not fond of such foods can grab something to eat before coming to the wedding or plan to eat afterwards.

If your wedding will be in the morning, you might consider setting up a brunch with a buffet line. Guests could dine on foods such as eggs, toast, Belgian waffles, made to order omelets, fresh fruit, and a nice variety of fresh juices. Then add in sausage, bacon, ham, and roast beef and you have a wonderful selection for your guests.

If the wedding reception will be in the early afternoon, an appetizer bar is always a great idea. Foods such as finger sandwiches, crackers and cheese, fruits, and all types of specialty pates add variety and taste delicious. Your guests will love snacking and the professional reception coordinator can provide you with all types of options that are unique and fun. For the kids, you can have an ice cream parlor set up where they can make their own sundaes or banana splits.

For the evening reception, the sit down dinner would be more appropriate. Just be sure to choose a meal that your guest would enjoy and offer a variety to please everyone. Some people might be vegetarians or be on a kosher diet and need different foods. Additionally, it is possible that some of the guests could have diabetes. Therefore, offer solutions just in case.

If your reception is more informal or outdoors, you can set up grills for homemade hamburgers, corn on the cob and potato wedges. If the reception is large, having food served can be difficult and costly. In this case, a self-serve buffet is best. To keep things organized and the line moving, instead of having one long line set up food stations instead. For example, you could have a meat station set up on either side of the room along with a fruit and vegetable station, potato bar, bread station, beverage station, and dessert station. This helps people get their food quicker and not be caught up in congestion. Another excellent suggestion is to set up a salad and soup bar. Since most people today are health conscious, this provides excellent food and it is healthy.
