Weddings and Money

For your upcoming wedding, you will need to order or make wedding programs for your guests. Depending on the type of ceremony you are having, this program might also be called The Order of Worship. The purpose of the program is to provide a schedule of events for your guests to follow. It will list each aspect of your wedding such as the vocalists, musician, reader, and so on. When the vocalist sings, his or her name will be included in the program along with the name of the song being sung. Additionally, wedding program guides are created in colors that match or coordinate with the wedding in keeping with the theme.
When you order your wedding invitations, usually at a stationary or bridal store, you can order your program guides at the same time. However, there are other options and some that can save you money. For instance, making your ownprograms is not difficult and can save you significant money. All you would need is a computer, printer, quality paper, and a little creativity. If you like, you can buy a specific software program that is designed especially for this type of project or if you prefer, you can use a simple word processing program. The only thing to keep in mind is that if you print the program guides on your own, you want to use a laser printer, as an ink jet printer will smear if the print becomes wet. Another option is to create the design and then save it to a disc where you can have a printer run copies off for you.
If your wedding will be formal, you can purchase elegant paper, use ribbons, scripted fonts, or purchase elaborate program guides that would maintain the sophistication. If your wedding is informal, you can create a scroll guide or something chic but not quite as lavish. If you plan to design your own but are not sure where to start, perform some research on the Internet to see what other programs guides look like.
Some program guides are actually small and have multiple pages, acknowledging every person in the wedding as well as the schedule of events. This is nice for formal or large weddings but generally, a program guide is 8 x 11 inches folded in half or 5 x 7 inches as a single sheet.
If you would like to personalize your wedding program guides, that gives them a nice touch. For example, the front of the program could feature the engagement photograph of the bride and groom, there might be a special dedication to the bride and grooms parents, a specially written poem about love and marriage, or a personal thank you to each guest for taking time to share in this special day.
Be sure to do a final proof for misspelled names, which is very important. Before you print off all the program guides or have them ordered, have a third party go over each name to ensure the spelling is accurate. Your guests will appreciate having a wedding guide to help them through the ceremony and it will leave you with something to cherish for life.
