One of the fun things about getting married is planning the ceremony. The traditional wedding of years past consisted of a bride in a flowing, white gown, groom in a black, long-tail tuxedo, and a chapel filled with family and friends. Although many people still enjoy a traditional wedding, couples getting married today are allowing their creative juices to flow by coming up with some very special and unique wedding themes. To give you an idea of the types of theme weddings taking place, read below:

Renaissance Wedding
For this wedding, the couple, along with the entire wedding party, gets dressed up in 16th Century costumes and holds the ceremony at the Renaissance Festival. From the flower girls all the way up to the minister, people look as though they have just stepped out of time. When sending out your invitations, ask your guests to participate in the fun by also dressing up. This is a fun and beautiful way to get married while celebrating with the people you love.

Asian Wedding
The Asian wedding is fantastic when created as a 17th Century celebration. You can find exquisite imperial costumes from that era at many vintage or costume shops. The bride can carry beautiful fresh flowers of white and red roses, accented with brilliantly colored lilies. The groom can be decked out in a red dragon brocade costume. Even the reception can celebrate the marriage and heritage by serving fresh fruit, Chinese dumplings, steamed buns, rice, and anything that is not meat as this would not have been permitted at the Buddhist temple. Provide each guest with chopsticks, and to the women, oriental fans.

Halloween Wedding
While having a Halloween wedding may sound like a strange and twisted idea for some people, other people love this holiday and cannot think of a better time to exchange vows. The bride can wear a Renaissance-type dress and the groom in a black pin striped, long-tail suit. The invitations are black with white ink, the flowers black and white, and if you want to really make things spooky, you can have the minister dress up as Dracula, the bride's party as witches, and the groom's party as mummies. Decorate with spider webs (fake, of course), a coffin, candles, and for the reception, hire a fortune teller and have plastic trees that have been painted black decked out with Halloween lights and ornaments.

Celtic Wedding
For this type of wedding, the men would wear kilts, the bride a peasant-type dress with fresh flowers in her hair, and instead of an organ, hire several men to play the bagpipe. For the reception, you can play lively, Celtic music and have a professional there to teach your guests how to dance the steps.

Other ideas include a reenactment of the Civil War, a Disney wedding, professional football teams, a Safari, Aviation or Space wedding, Cinderella or some other Fairy Tale, or just whatever your interests represent. These are just a few examples of the types of weddings you might consider. Since this is your special day, why not make it fun and provide everyone with an adventure they will never forget.
