The dress that the brides mother will wear is important. For your daughters upcoming wedding, you want to shine and look elegant and sophisticated. After all, you are the brides mother. This is your baby girls big day the day that both you and she have dreamed of form the day she was born. You are so proud of her but remember that you deserve to look gorgeous right along with her. When it comes to choosing the right style, no set style is right or wrong. It really boils down to what you are comfortable with and what makes you look best.

The average age of todays bride is 26 years old. That means that the average age for the brides mother is anywhere from 50 to 65 years old. This is still very young and therefore, the dress should accentuate your figure, hide any flaws, and be glamorous but age appropriate.

It is possible that your daughter will request that you wear the same color of dress as the wedding party. It does not mean you have to wear an identical shade or style, but something that falls in the color category. However, if you do not look good in the specific color or prefer something else, you need to discuss this with your daughter. More than likely, she will completely understand but if she really wants you to stay with a color scheme, oblige and respect her opinion.

For starters, in addition to the actual dress, the undergarments are an important aspect of the complete look. It is as though starting with a good foundation on which the dress is built. The best option is to choose a dress that already has the undergarments sewn in. Another excellent option is to choose an all-in-one body shaper, which can be found at any department store. Keep in mind that the body shapers of the past were uncomfortable and bulky. Today, they are made from new materials that breathe and feel natural.

You also need to make sure that not only do the shoes match, but that they are comfortable. Although you will be sitting much of the time, you will have times of standing and mingling and therefore, want to wear the most comfortable shoes possible. In fact, many professional wedding coordinators suggest that more money be spent on the shoes than the rest of the outfit.

If you have cleavage, do not be afraid to accentuate that feature. That does not mean you have to wear something so low that you are miserable, but showing off a bit of what you have is fine. Square or princes lines are excellent choices. Keep the tones subtle with small accents. For instance, a beautiful silk sheath that has an ornate tea-length jacket would be gorgeous. Remember that if the dress chosen is more on the plain side, it can always be jazzed up with a jacket, scarf, or jewelry.

You should emphasize your beautiful shape. While you do not want your dress to fit snugly, even if you have a drop-dead size five figure, it should still flatter your figure. If you were a plus size, a flowing gown would be appropriate and probably make you feel more comfortable. Today, beautiful gowns and ensembles are available in all sizes, making the choosing much easier. Just remember that while you want to look elegant as the brides mother, this is your daughters long awaited for day so the focus needs to be on her and groom.
