When you are thinking about the type of tuxedo to rent for the wedding event, there are a number of things to keep in mind. This article is designed to provide some useful information about renting tuxes such as the best ways to rent a tux and tips for getting the tux that you want. It will also provide guidelines on choosing the tux that is appropriate for your wedding event and give you some tips for determining the types of tuxes that might fall into the appropriate category.
The first thing to thing about is the time of the wedding event. Typically, evening events are much more formal than morning or afternoon events and typically require a tux that is formal rather that more casual. Formal tuxes are typically black or darker in color. For evening weddings, typically these types of tuxes are used over other types and these is less room for variation. However, morning and afternoon weddings do tend to be less formal and provide the person or people selecting the tuxes with a number of options.
Parts of the tux:
- Jacket: the outer jacket that is worn by the groomsman. The jacket can have one two or 3 buttons on it.
- Tie: Many tuxes come with a bow tie. This is tied or clipped around the neck to the shirt and can be many different colors.
- Cumberbum: This is on some types of tuxes and is a area of color usually near the waist that is fastened around the person wearing it and is used to highlight the bow tie. Usually not worn if the tux comes with a vest. Like the vest, the cumberbun is more fully visible when the jacket has been taken off.
- Vest: This is worn below the jacket and above the shirt. It is usually set to match or complement the bow tie and most of it is hidden by the jacket when the jacket is worn. When the jacket is taken off, the vest then becomes the outer layer so it is helpful to have a classy looking vest.
- Shoes: typically, the tuxedo comes with shoes that match it. Most of the time these are black shoes, but you may decide to select another color. If a tuxedo does not come with shoes, the groomsman can wear very nice dress shoes.
- Cufflinks / Buttons: The cufflinks and buttons are used to highlight the entire outfit. These links are usually larger and darker than normal buttons and provide the wearer with an elegant look.
- Shirt: The standard tux shirt color is white - it goes with everything. However, you can select other shirt colors but generally they should be sudued.
- Socks: socks are usually not provided with the tux. For most tuxes, groomsman should wear standard black socks. It is important for the outfits to be consistent.
