Wedding Reception Tips

Weddings and Money

When it comes to getting married, June is the most popular month of all. However, in recent years more and more engaged couples have chosen to have a winter wedding. Just picture everyone dressed in white, being pulled to the chapel in a horse drawn sleigh, and at the reception, the mouth-watering aroma of hot cider and fresh-baked goods. This description conjures up a wonder vision of romance and sophistication.
If you have decided to marry in the winter and you live in a cold area, in addition to worrying about your gown, you will now need to find a beautiful gown that will keep you warm. The best course of action is to plan as early as possible so you have plenty of options. Depending on the state where you live, you might be able to get by with a regular wedding dress that offers some additional comfort while living in Northern regions you will need something very special.
Popular choices are wedding gowns with long sleeves, and a cozy warm fabric to include velvet, moiré, or taffeta. If you have always dreamed of having a wedding gown with a plunging neckline, just because you are having a winter wedding, does not mean you have to change your mind. To keep you warm while still showing some skin, look for or have a dress designed with a mesh or chiffon illusion neckline. Whether you want long sleeves or not, choose a delicate pair of white gloves, keeping your hands and arms warm as you make your way to the wedding chapel and then to the reception in the sleigh.
If you discover as you near the chapel that the weather is going to be bitterly cold, wear a pair of thermal leggings or white, heavy tights under your dress. Unless you say something, no one will know. Most department stores carry white thermal leggings that are made from silk and therefore do not add weight or bulk to your dress. When it comes time to throw the garter, immediately after arriving at the reception hall, change out of the thermal stockings and into regular stockings. Once the reception is over, unless you plan being outside for any length of time, you can simply leave your regular stockings on.
Why is it that all shoes perfect for weddings always hurt your feet? You can visit a number of stores and find just the right style of shoe only to try them on and feel the pain in 10 seconds, let alone several hours. Many women will wear boots for the weather on the way to the church where they will change into their dress shos. Once you are at the reception, feel free to change into a flat pair of white shoes for dacing and walking around to visit people - your feet will thank you.
