When planning your wedding a part of that is registering with various stores where you prefer to have gifts bought. The stores do not have to all be upscale. In fact, many of the stores are retail stores where everyday items can be purchased needed by the bride and groom. The whole idea behind the gift registry really is a good one. Now people who are buying the gift know exactly what the bride and groom needs and wants. Therefore, this ensures the gift is appreciated and used. Gone are the days of receiving three blenders, two toasters, and five sets of the same towel.
By planning your registry timeframe, you will have a better chance of getting exactly what you put on your list. Following are some suggestions and ideas to help you in the right direction for success:
You would think that towels would be no big deal. In reality, if you are going to add this to your registry, you should not wait too long. The reason is that many colors are seasonal. Therefore, if you are doing a bathroom with a patriotic design and want towels that are red, white, and blue, or if your bathroom will be in oranges, you might have a difficult time finding towels all year long. If you are looking for standard colors, it will not matter as much.
Try to spread the gifts out among various price ranges so that everyone will have something to choose. For instance, if you have 10 items under $30 and 40 over $50, you need to balance it out better, as most people will go with the lower end priced gifts.
Another huge advantage of using a gift registry is that most of these services create a nice report for you so you know exactly who bought what. This is a huge benefit when it comes time to write out all those thank you cards.
Be sure to register with many different stores. For instance, for your lower end items you could choose three or four different retail stores and for the higher end stores, three or four well-known department stores. If you have kitchen items, you could register at a specific store such as Sonoma, if you want household décor items you could register at Pottery Barn, and if you want items for the bathrooms, you could register with Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Be creative and open to several different options, which will help the people buying the gifts.
