Many people think that in order to have a magnificent wedding, they need
to escape to some tropical island. If you want an amazing wedding that
will provide lifelong memories, consider having a New York wedding. Not
only will you enjoy wonderful options for the wedding itself, but after
the wedding, you can enjoy the city and all the fine amenities it has to
offer.
New York is exciting, electric, and very romantic. In fact, people come
from all around the world to have their wedding in New York for these
very reasons. New York offers a glamorous and sophisticated ambience hard
to find anywhere else. If you want to propose in New York, consider a cozy
carriage ride through Central Park. Do you remember the scene in "Sleepless
in Seattle" up on the Empire State Building? This is another incredible
location for a proposal. The options are endless, each offering something
very special.
To get married in New York City, you do not have to be a U.S. citizen. Both
the future bride and groom will need to apply for the marriage license at the
City Clerk's office, brining proof of identification by a driver's license,
state-issued identification card, military ID, Visa, Green Card, or even a
certified copy of your passport. For the $30 fee, you will need to pay with
a money order made payable to the "City Clerk of New York" since they do not
accept cash, personal checks, or credit cards.
If your documents are not in English, you will need to be accompanied by a
certified English translator. If either party has been married previously,
the name along with the date and location of being dissolved will have to be
provided. You will then be required to wait 24 hours before the wedding can
take place. In addition, the wedding will have to occur within 60 days or
the license will expire. Both the bride and groom must be 18. Otherwise,
they will have to be accompanied with a parent or legal guardian who can
provide permission for the wedding. In the state of New York, you can be
married at age 14 or 15, but both parents would have to have a court order
and give written permission.
If you want to get married at the courthouse, the cost is $25. There is no
appointment required unless you go to the office at Staten Island. You will
also be required to bring at lease one witness with you who is over the age
of 18. If you prefer to get married in the park or a quant chapel, you will
discover a huge selection, to include every denomination of religion
imaginable. Getting married in New York is a fantastic option that you will
remember for the rest of your life.
