Additionally, where normal wedding and reception invitations would be mailed six to eight weeks in advance, if having a holiday wedding, you should get invitations out at least three months ahead of time. Many families use this time to take vacation or travel out of town to spend the holidays with other family or friends. One of the great benefits of having a holiday wedding is that the time of year and everything is festive. Offices, restaurants, streets, everything is lit up and beautiful. If you live in a city with snow, there are sleigh rides, Christmas carolers, twinkling lights, fantastic foods, hot apple cider, and more. Having a wedding at this time of year is almost as if everyone were celebrating with you. In addition, dressing up the church and reception hall is extra special. Use the holiday spirit to make things special and wonderful.
Although not mandatory, many couples choose to incorporate the holiday colors into their wedding. They will hang beautifully decorated wreaths, bring maroon and white or silver into the wedding party clothing, and create their own special Winter Wonderland. Even the flowers at the church and those adorning the tables at the reception can add a touch of holiday spirit. You can have your florist make them or you can make beautiful centerpieces made from holly, mistletoe, pine needles, poinsettias, and pinecones. The grooms and groomsmen can have boutonnieres designed from holly leaves and bright red berries. The result is an amazingly beautiful, holiday wedding that no one will ever forget.
