Are you planning a holiday wedding and not sure what you need? When planning this type of wedding, you want everything to be extra special. The holidays are already special and by using this festive time of year, you can create a fairytale wedding.
To make your holiday wedding a complete success, the colors of the holiday need to be seen in the clothing, the decorations, the flowers, the centerpieces, and even the wedding cake. Besides, these colors are amazingly beautiful - rich maroon and red, shiny silver and gold, cream and white accents, and deep blue and plaids of green and red. Make your wedding extraordinary by dressing it up to fit the holiday.
Instead of having a solo vocalist at your wedding, consider having a children's choir or hand bell choir. For the reception, keep some of the classic holiday tunes playing softly in the background. Another excellent option that will make your holiday wedding a lasting memory is to have a harpist. Not only is harp music romantic, but very spiritual. Finally, string quartets are a great way to celebrate your reception as they harmonize beautifully, singing some of your favorite carols.
With so much mistletoe, holly, berries, and fern during this time of year, you can use them to create a beautiful decoration for the end of each pew, additions to be placed around the altar, to spice up the appearance around the guest book area, and to create a perfect centerpiece that is enriched with miniature ornaments. For the bride and groom's table, you can add soft touches of gardenias, blended perfectly with miniature red roses and white baby's breath. Hang evergreen or fern wreaths decorated with silver, gold, red, and green ribbon, all around the church and reception hall.
When it comes to flowers for the wedding party, have the florist create a ring made of holly, garland, and orchids where a candle sits securely in the middle. The Maid of Honor and the Bride's Maids will carry this as they make their way down the aisle, making a stunning entrance. The groomsmen can have special boutonnieres created from a holly leaf and small, red berries. Once the bride and groom are pronounced husband and wife, either the Maid of Honor or the Best Man can step forward with some mistletoe for the married couple kiss.
Instead of the traditional food served at weddings, have the caterer pull out all the stops by creating some of the old time Christmas favorites like roasted duck, spiral ham, fresh corn, cranberry sauce, oyster stuffing, hot spiced cider, homemade eggnog, and to warm the heart, some hot chocolate with Irish cream.
If religious beliefs accept Santa Clause, this would be a fun time to have him visit the reception for all the little children. Other great ideas for your reception would be to have people make a small donation to your favorite charity, get everyone involved in caroling, have someone with a deep, animated voice read the Christmas story, and make this a Christmas a very special time for all.
