The rehearsal dinner is another important aspect of the wedding that needs to be planned and organized to make it successful. Some rehearsal dinners are information and might even include a picnic at the park or dinner at a Chinese buffet while other rehearsal dinners are quite formal, spent at a top hotel with prime rib and caviar. No matter what type of rehearsal dinner you are planning for your upcoming wedding, you need to provide information to your guests regarding proper attire.
The first step is to decide what type of rehearsal dinner you want. This should be done about one month before the occasion for the best options. Next, you will need to determine where the dinner will take place and the time of day when it will occur. If the rehearsal dinner will begin from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., make sure guests know if business attire is appropriate or if they should bring something more casual or formal. After all, you want your guests to enjoy themselves and feel comfortable.
Typically, the grooms parents are the ones to host this dinner. Therefore, the proper thing to do is discuss every aspect with them. Let them be involved in choosing the type, the location, and the degree of formality. One important thing to keep in mind is that many younger couples do not have tuxedos and long evening gowns in their closet so you will need to take into consideration the age of the guests.
If you have decided on a formal diner, then for the men, a suit and tie and for women, a cocktail dress or something that would be worn to church would be ideal. If the rehearsal dinner is less formal, then men could wear khakis pants and a pullover shirt while the women could wear a dress, skirt and blouse, or pantsuit. For the real casual dinner, you want to let the guests know how casual. For example, if you will be having the dinner at the lake, then advise that jeans, shorts, and even swimsuits are fine or if the dinner is at the local park, then jeans and shorts.
Again, you want to provide adequate information to your guests or what will happen is that someone will show up dressed inappropriately and become embarrassed. When you send out the invitations, you can slip a small note inside each, providing exact information. Remember, that this is a time of joy and therefore, you should have fun and not be stressing over things.
By carefully planning the rehearsal dinner and taking the family and guests into consideration, you will have a wonderful time with the people you love on your last day of being single. The most important thing is not to spend all night out since the following day is your wedding. You want to have fun but be sure not to spread yourself too thin to ensure you have plenty of energy and patience for the big day.
