For most bride and grooms, the wedding rehearsal is an important time. Not only is this the time right before the actual wedding ceremony, but it is the time when all the family and wedding party comes together. This time is one of openness, good conversation, and honesty. Many couples actually find the rehearsal dinner a stressful time. They want everyone to have a good time and get along. Then when you add in the bundle of nerves knowing the wedding is right around the corner, sadly the dinner is not enjoyed the way it could be.
When planning your wedding rehearsal dinner, be sure to keep yourself calm and collected so you can have a great time and enjoy this special gathering. Most often, the rehearsal dinner is scheduled for the night before the wedding ceremony although you can move it to lunch, which is just as enjoyable and helps take away from some of the stress. For one thing, many people will find this to be a more convenient time in that there is not all the last minute rushing around.
If you are having a natural type wedding, perhaps a garden setting, you might consider having the rehearsal dinner the same. Choose a courtyard where there are beautiful flowers and plants, archways, candles, and a natural feel. Keep the menu light with salads, finger sandwiches, pates, specialty teas, and mousse. The ambiance will be wonderful and relaxing and carry over into your actual ceremony the following day.
If you choose to have your rehearsal dinner outdoors in the evening, a garden setting can be embellished with twinkling lights, lots of candles, flowers, all creating a romantic and charming atmosphere. This is the perfect setting for the formal or romantic wedding as again, it sets the tone of the entire event that continues the next day on your wedding.
For the themed wedding, especially one outdoors and at the beach, why not have the rehearsal dinner at the beach as well. You can set up awnings where tables are setup with various types of tropical foods and drinks, have barbecues going with grilled chicken, or you could even have a Hawaiian Luau with a pig roast and all. Hire Hula dancers for entertainment, set up candles, twinkling lights, and Tiki torches for setting the ambiance. Just imagine couples dancing on the sandy beach to the soft glow of torches with music being played by a Ukulele player.
If you want something a little more casual and fun, why not have a rehearsal dinner that is set up as a 1960s theme, pizza party, or Swing or Big Band. Whether you choose to have the dinner indoors or outdoors, during the day or the evening, with this type of rehearsal dinner, you want to have fun and enjoy this time together with family and friends.
Excellent ideas would include a picnic that includes red-checkered tablecloths, fried chicken, and watermelon! Another excellent option is to create a Sushi Soiree where you serve all types of Sushi, green tea, and of course, all food served with chopsticks! You might also consider a Mexican Fiesta with all different types of Mexican food, Sopapillas for dessert, margaritas, and Mexican coffee. Set up a piņata filled with all your favorite candies and enjoy the excitement of the event. A pizza party is always fun. Order all types of different pizzas and be sure you add a few creative flavors for fun and challenge. If you want something nice but are on a tighter budget, an old-fashioned backyard barbecue is always a great time.
