As you plan the biggest day of your life, the wedding, you carefully choose each member of the bridal party. For both the women and the men, these people include sisters and brothers, cousins, and best friends. You might choose a close sister or brother or have a friend dating back to high school or college who has been an important person in your life. Because these people mean something special to you, you want to show your appreciation for their participation in your wedding.
Keep in mind that the Best Man and Maid of Honor are not just handsome and pretty faces that stand up with you on your wedding day. They have a lot of responsibility to ensure your wedding plans are flawless. These people plan the wedding shower, the bachelor and bachelorette parties, they work with the groomsmen in how to seat guests and ensure they show up for their tuxedo fitting, and they work with the bridesmaids in keeping track of the guest book, the flower girl and ring bearer, and many factors of the reception. In other words, these people pour their heart and soul into making your wedding a fairytale come true.
To show your appreciation, you want to provide each of them with a special gift. This gift should be something personal for each person. Typically, the Maid of Honor and Best Man are given gifts that are a little more expensive while the gifts chosen for the bridesmaids and groomsmen are also wonderful and unique gifts but similar in choice. You want to choose gifts that will be treasured and create a wonderful memory of your special day. To give you an idea of some of the traditional gift ideas, consider the following choices:
Groomsmen Crystal paperweight, silver monogrammed key chain, sterling silver pocketknife, pen and pencil set, sterling silver money clip, or engraved accessory box.
Bridesmaids Crystal box or vase, pearl earrings, silver or crystal picture frame, jewelry box, silver clock, silver makeup compact, or crystal ring holder.
For the Best Man, your choice of gift needs to be something that is associated specifically for him. For instance, if your Best Man loves to fish, a new fishing rod and reel would be wonderful. If he loves jewelry, a beautiful gold bracelet would make an ideal gift. Just think about the things you know he enjoys and buy the gift accordingly.
For the Maid of Honor, the same principle would be true. If you know she loves jewelry, choose a diamond necklace or earrings or perhaps a beautiful piece of antique jewelry that she can wear for a lifetime. If she loves things around the house, purchase a lovely Waterford crystal vase or dish.
The key for these two people is to choose something that is more than just a token. You want to do something extra nice because a lot of the work that goes into planning a wedding and reception falls back on them.
