Announcements
Generally you will want to announce your wedding engagement from 1 year to 2 months
before your anticipated wedding date. Many people put this information in the paper.
If you choose to do this, be sure to give the paper ample time to print it - that's why we say do it
at least two months before the date of the wedding (preferably earlier). Each paper
usually has its own rules so it's important to check with the local paper. This will allow give people
the required advance notice about the wedding.
You may send announcement to people that you did not invite to the reception. Generally send out your
wedding announcements as soon after the wedding as possible.
Remember, although wedding announcements are not requests for gifts, many people
regard them as just that. Overall wedding etiquette says that announcements are
appropriate for anyone, but our view is that you should use them on a case-by-case basis based on
your knowledge of their recipients.
