Weddings and Money

|
As we all to have a wedding, costs a lot of money. One thing that can be done to help with these costs is look at different aspects of your wedding and determine, if money can be cut somewhere. The one place that some money can be saved is with the wedding decorations. To have a beautiful, elegant wedding, does not mean you have to have the most expensive decorations on the planet.
From the minute that you know you will be getting married, start looking for bargains. As you shop at thrift shops, garage sales, overstock stores, and so on, look for items that could be used for decoration. More than likely, you will find some beautiful pieces for a fraction of the normal cost. In addition, keep your eyes open for after holiday sales, which can be found anywhere. Often in these types of sales, you will find silver and gold balls, ribbon, garland, and many other items that could enhance both the wedding and the reception and best of all, for a great price. If you will be having your wedding in the fall, locate other seasonal stores that would have some items made from the rich, warm fall colors.
When you get ready to buy the materials for decorations, stay away from the wedding section in a craft shop. You will be tempted to buy and all of those items can be found in other sections of the same store for a reduced price. As an example, if you found a string of pearls in the wedding section, look in the fabrics and notions section where you will find the same beads for as much as 50% less. When buying fresh cut flowers, go to a wholesalers and make your own arrangements. If you are not sure how, you can pick up a $5.00 book that will walk you through each of the steps with ease. Then have an afternoon get together with family, friends, and co-workers where everyone can make flowers using their own special, creative styles. For silk flowers, keep your eye on the craft stores as well as fabric stores where you will find an abundance of sales. Silk flowers make great centerpieces that you can give away to guests at the end of the night.
Another great idea is locate other brides that will be getting married the same weekend as you and see if they would be interested in splitting the cost of flowers. By buying in bulk, you can save a tremendous amount of money. Just keep all your options open.
