For some people planning a wedding, they decide to go all out and get married somewhere exotic. Perhaps a Hawaiian wedding, a trip to Ireland or Greece, maybe Las Vegas, or you might be thinking about Barbados or one of the Caribbean Islands. If you are thinking about an enchanted wedding, why not be creative to find ways to reduce the cost. If you want a destination wedding but also want to include your close family and friends, you need to consider several things.
Weddings by themselves are expensive but then when you add in a trip to some magnificent island with a white, sandy beach right outside the door, you are looking at some serious expenses. Rather than throw your dream out the window, conduct a little planning using some of these guidelines to see if you can still have your dream wedding without paying full price for everything.
Start by remembering that you are in control. In many cases, when two families are planning a trip to attend a wedding, opinions and advice start flying and before long, things are a mess. One side of the family will state they know a better travel agent, one will say they do not want to stay at a certain hotel, then you start hearing the best airline to use, and soon the enjoyment of planning your wedding has become a battle over control. While it may be hard since this is your family and you do not want anyones feelings to be hurt, this is your wedding and therefore, while you can listen to input, the decisions are yours.
Be sure to check out all-inclusive packages. These packages can work for both the bride and groom and other family members. For the newly married couple, the all-inclusion package would include both the wedding and the honeymoon for a nice discount. Depending on the type of wedding and honeymoon destination, you could lower a trip from $10,000 to $4,000. For the family, all-inclusive packages will often include discounted hotel rooms and three meals a day. Occasionally, the package will also offer discounted airfare.
Turn your destination wedding a vacation for all. If you or your soon-to-be spouse has family gatherings or reunions every year, why not change the reunion date and location for the wedding.
Remember the kids. If you have kids of your own from a previous marriage or have close family and/or friends with smaller children, be conscientious of the destination. While the adults would love a trip to a secluded island, other than swimming, the children would quickly lose interest. On the other hand, you can find thousands of beach resorts that will accommodate the tranquility for the adults and the activities for the children.
Look into a cruise, which is an excellent way to have a blast, have some privacy, and still spend ample time with family and friends. In exchange for a reasonably prices cruise, you receive award-winning food creations, quality entertainment, numerous on-ship amenities, and several ports of call.
