Weddings and Money

When you plan your wedding, remember to add the transportation to your list. You need to make plans for getting to the church and reception. While some couples will arrange with family or friends, most often, a limousine is a nice treat for the bride and groom, allowing them to ride in style. After the reception is over, if you will be going to the airport to catch a flight for your honeymoon, you can look into the limousine driving you to the airport as well.
In most cases, transportation for the bride and groom is selected and paid by the groom's family. However, that tradition is being reworked in now, the bride is involved in the selection and with costs. When you go to look at limousines, you will discover that you have a nice selection from which to choose. To make the right selection, you need to consider a few things:
- Who will be riding in the limousine? Will it be only the bride
and groom, or them plus the mothers and fathers?
- Tradition provides room in the limousine for the bride's maids,
maid of honor, and of course the bride, to the wedding ceremony.
- If you want more people to go along in the limousine, you may
have no choice but to choose a stretch limousine, which will cost
anywhere from $300 to $500 for a period of four hours.
- If you are budget minded, consider a town car over a limousine.
These are luxury cars that stylish and cost much less than a
limousine.
- Make a decision as to what you want with the limousine. Do you
want a phone, a television, food, and drinks?
- Rent the limousine you want and not the limousine the company
vans you to have. Be very specific so they know which features
you will not use, thus saving money.
If you are on a budget but want the guests to enjoy the excitement of
a limousine, skip the ride to the church and use the limousine for the
ride to and from the reception since most guests will be seated at the
church and not see you arrive. Additionally, be sure to shop around
for the best bargain. Prices for limousines can vary from one company
to the next.
You should also insist on meeting the driver and talk with him or her
personally to make sure there is no confusion for time or location.
A good driver will be dressed in proper attire and will always put
safety first. If you are trying to save money, some drivers will take
the bride to the church as a nice gesture. Having a driver that you
trust, can be the difference between a successful limousine ride and
a disastrous one.
