Weddings and Money

Although some people can put a wedding together in a matter of months, a traditional wedding will take a full 10 to 12 months to plan. Once a date has been set, be prepared for a lot of work, and stress. Many people do not realize how much work is involved in putting together a wedding. While not impossible, it does require effort. If you are planning to have an extra large wedding or one sooner than 10 months, you should consider using the services of a wedding planner.
You will need to determine a budget based on the wedding size and degree of sophistication. After your budget is complete, determine location and contact the clergy to confirm the date and time. One aspect of the wedding plan that many couples miss is the honeymoon. When you first start with the wedding plans, get started on your honeymoon as well. This will allow you appropriate time to choose a place, save the money, and get the best deals on hotel and air.
Next, you need to organize your guest list and make sure you get everyone from both sides of the family. Find a reception hall where you want to hold your reception and put down a deposit to hold it. At this time, you also want to locate a photographer, and make sure you get one that will also include video services. In addition to the wedding photos, you will need to schedule time for engagement photos and start the selection of your wedding party. Keep in mind that you will want one usher for every 25 guests. Eight months out, you will choose your wedding dress, headpiece, veil, and shoes. This should not be delayed because it will take you more time than you expect. Decide on your wedding color and/or theme, and send out your engagement photo, which includes a photo and short write-up going to your local paper.
About six months before the wedding, book your music, florist, caterer, DJ or band, and finalize names on your guest list. Finalize your cake order and wedding attire. Be sure to choose your garter, lingerie, and going away outfit for after the wedding and the men's attire. Register your gift selections with various bridal registries as well as your favorite stores. About four months from the wedding, purchase your wedding rings. You will also choose your menu for both the rehearsal dinner and the reception and purchase your wedding invitations, which need to be mailed no later than three weeks before the wedding. Be sure to choose thank you notes, printed napkins, and matchbooks at this same time. Finally, enjoy your bachelor and bachelorette party and try to take a breather before your big day. As you can see, there is a lot to do when planning a wedding. Do not underestimate the volume of work and time required to get everything done. Considering that this is not an entire list, if you stress easily or plan to have a large wedding, you should look into the services of a reputable wedding planner. This is one investment you will be glad you made
