Using poetry for weddings is a wonderful idea that will enhance any wedding
style beautifully. Some people have a natural ability for writing poetry
while others do not. If comfortable in writing poetry, a poem that is no
more than one page in length would be ideal and something in which you can
pour your heart and soul. If you are not gifted with writing, you will find
hundreds of online businesses and freelance writers that can take your
thoughts and emotions and create something specifically for your wedding.
In addition to poetry, you might consider a famous quote, inspirational quote,
or love quote or letter. There are many different types of poetry, each with
its own characteristics. Some poetry is rhythmic and some not. Some people
appreciate Haiku style, which is short and methodical, while others prefer
free form type poetry. To give you an example of some types of poetry that
would be perfect for a wedding, consider the following:
"I love you not only for what you are but for what I am when I am with you."
- Elizabeth Barrett Browning
"As we grow older together, as we continue to change with age
There is one thing that will never change; I will always keep falling in love
with you."
- Karen Clodfelder
"Your lips speak soft sweetness, your touch a cool caress
I am lost in your magic, my heart, beats within your chest
I think of you each morning, and dream of you each night
I think of your arms being around me, and cannot express my delight
Never have I fallen, but I am quickly on my way
You hold a heart in your hands, that has never before been given away."
- Rex A. Williams
Love quotes would make another perfect choice. Although a little different
from an actual poem, love quotes are still poetic. A love quote should always
focus on the positive things in the relationship, romantic moments, and
cherished memories. Any of these options would bring an elegant and lasting
memory to your special wedding day.
