Have you ever been to a wedding reception where everything from the cake down to the napkins was perfect? Most people have and awed at how perfect even the napkins looked. If you are getting ready to plan your own wedding, you too can have a perfectly polished reception and have family and friends pitch in to make that happen.
For napkins, there are 11 primary styles. Each of these is actually easy to create once you understand how. Following are simply to follow instructions for the first five napkins so you too can have an amazing reception. The 11 styles include:
Bird of Paradise
Fold a square napkin into quarters so the four edges are facing you. Then fold each of the edges up to create a triangle. Next, fold the left and right points of that triangle to the center and fold over the extended points. Finally, lift the center and hold the base while gently pulling the four edges out of the center. The result is a beautiful Bird of Paradise bloom.
Candle
Fold a napkin in half diagonally so a triangle is formed. Now fold one-fourth of the base edges to create a cuff. Flip the napkin over and roll it from left to right. Tuck the rest of the corner sticking out into the cuff to create a base for the candle. Now position the candle with the highest point facing you.
Cardinal Hat
Fold the napkin diagonally to form a triangle. Now fold the left and right-hand corners of that triangle to the top and then turn the napkin over so the fold is not visible. Next, fold up the bottom tip and then fold it in half. Fold the right-hand side over the left, creating a circle. Tuck one end of the triangle into the other and then place the Cardinal Hat in an upright position, flaring the points out slightly.
Crown
Fold a napkin in half diagonally to create a triangle. Now fold the left and right triangle to the top so a square is formed. Turn the napkin, forming a diamond. Next, fold the bottom point two-thirds to the top point, folding the bottom point back again to the base. Now turn the napkin over, tucking the far corners into each other to form a round base. Finally, stand the napkin up and flair the top corners out to create a crown.
Flame
For this napkin, fold tall four corners using a flat napkin toward the center. Fold the bottom half under the top half and then fold the right over the left. Position the napkin clockwise, forming a diamond. Roll the top layer toward the center to create a band and then turn the second layer under to form a second band. The last position is to fold the left and right-hand edges under.
