Getting your father involved in your wedding may be difficult. Your wedding
is the ideal time to spend some amazing quality time with your dad as his
little angel. Far too often, fathers are left out of the planning. Make
sure you take time to sit down with your father. After all, when the wedding
is over, you want to have lasting memories of the special time you spent with
your father.
Being the father, there will be many things that he has no interest in doing.
For example, you can be confident that you dad will not want to work with the
flower centerpieces. However, you may have a father that would be willing to
do anything for his little girl. Even so, try to give him things that he
would enjoy. He may love meeting with the DJ to come up with some fantastic
music, something people will remember for a long time to come.
Additionally, this is the ideal opportunity for your future husband and father
to get to know each other better. More than likely, your future husband feels
as much out of place as your father does. Having the two of them working on a
project together will allow them time to bond. Give your-in-law some general
ideas on what you want for the meal and then let him have at it, staying within
an approved budget. Men are great at choosing food so let him have at it.
You will need to sit down with your father to discuss the music. You should
find out the songs that are important to him since the two of you will have a
special father / daughter dance. To help him know just how special you think
he is, let him choose the music. To ensure the two of you shine on the dance
floor, a couple of weeks before the wedding get together for some practicing
time. You will be amazed at how much fun you have and how this will bring the
two of you closer together even more.
Once the wedding is over, write a very sincere letter to your father, thanking
him for his help and for making your wedding something extraordinary. You can
be guaranteed that he will be touched by your heartfelt letter. This will be
a day he never forgets.
