Many people love big church weddings while others prefer something unique
and more intimate. Las Vegas is a great option where you can find a variety
of options. If you are considering a wedding in Vegas, there are specific
things you should take into consideration.
First, you will not be required to take a blood test and there is no waiting
period whereas in most states, you have to wait a minimum of 30 days from the
time you apply for your license. Marriage licenses can be purchased for $50
but you need to bring cash. Both bride and groom must be a minimum of 18
years of age and not any closer in relation than second cousins or cousins of
half-blood. You will be required to show proof of age and both parties are
required to show up at the marriage license bureau together. You will find
the courthouse open seven days a week, from 8:00 a.m. to midnight and even on
Nevada legal holidays.
People that are 16 or 17 years old need the consent of a parent or legal
guardian. This consent is provided through an affidavit that has been
notarized and signed by the parent when not present. In addition, this
affidavit is required to include birth date of minor, the relationship of
the party giving the consent, and the affidavit must be in English. All
weddings in Las Vegas must have a minimum of one witness, other than the
person performing the ceremony. If you do not have anyone with you, most
of the Vegas chapels have witnesses on hand. If you have been divorced,
obviously, the divorce must have been finalized and you will need to provide
the date of the decree and city and state where granted. To be on the safe
side, bring a copy of your divorce decree with you.
Las Vegas with all its lights and excitement makes the perfect backdrop for
many people getting married. You will find chapels where you can be married
by "Elvis", get a quickie marriage via a drive-through, or enjoy a beautiful
adobe mission-style chapel, complete with Southwest décor. Regardless of
your style, you can be sure that Las Vegas has something to offer.
