Deciding on the music selections for your ceremony can be a long process. Moreover, it can often
be difficult to have the music selections and performers to deliver them within a reasonable budget.
Generally, the music selections should be songs that either have meaning to your or songs that will
add beauty and elegance to the ceremony. When you are considering music selections, keep in mind
that you will want to obtain music for the following areas:
Prelude
Processional
Interlude
Postlude
Recessional
Each of these areas will generally have one or more music selections associated with it. These
selections can be classical or any type of music, depending on your tastes.
When selecting the musicians, your should keep a couple of things in mind. First, is that professional
musicians can be quite costly - particularly if they are excellent musicians. Also if the musicians are
traveling in from out of town, they may request travel expenses and intrunment transport costs. You can
save some money by having talented friends or acquaintances play or sing at the ceremony, however, you
should be extremely careful who you select. Even if you are having friends or family play music at the
ceremony, you should be straightforward with monetary expectations. Although a song may take 2 minutes
to play or sing, a musician may need to practice for hours or even days to be ready to play or sing.
When you are setting up and planning the ceremony, be sure to think about the musicians when you are
planning. You should have a place for them to sit or stand during the ceremony and if they will have
a large instunment with them, you should make arrangements for them to have a place to store or place
the instrunment during the ceremony. Moreover, if you wedding is going to be taking place outside,
you should have some type of contingency plan if it is raining or the weather is bad.
